About Your Family
Married to my wife, Morgan, since 2002. Four kids: Alayna Carlin (born 2000), Aiden Johnathan (born 2003), Brooklyn Evelyn Brielle (born 2006) and Isabella McKenzie (born 2008). I have the craziest kids on the block, and they're all showing they have some of Daddy's artist genes.
About Your Career
I've been working administrative jobs for a long time. I got a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Project Management in 2007, and have yet to know what I am going to do with it. In the mean time, I freelance doing marketing design work and web development.
Comments About Your VSAA Experience
VSAA was the basis of the rest of my education and artistic pursuits so far. I still remember the classes and people, and it won't leave me any time soon. I expect when I'm senile and delirious as an old man I will be complaining about district regulations and core projects, thinking the nurses are resident artists or something.
Comments On Your Continued Interest in Art
I have been trying to focus for a few years now. I have so much interest in the arts, and in multiple art forms, that I don't know how to make it work cohesively. It impresses me how film and animation directors get it done, but then again they have a staff. I don't. I plan on being an artist my entire life, creative in some fashion. And I intend to let my art inspire social change.
Favorite Classmates/Staff
Conyne, whom the school itself misses and I miss a lot. Jeffers, Swatosh and Greene who have been involved with bringing alumni back as resident artists. David Tang, who was the one who let me slack off in the recording studio. Then there's all the slackers I hung out with in school: Rory Fanning, Matt Pfingsten (Pfing!), Nicole Kirby (Howes), Lacy Svensen, Matt Wright, Brian Wingate, Tyson Veech-White, Brittany Clayton, Jason Barker, Gabe Kniffin, Tyler Chen, Joe Oppeguard, Lacey Buck, Malia Cortez, and all the others that I will list sometime in my memoirs but will prevent myself to add to this huge list. Just about everyone was great at the school.
Random Facts
My son is 5 and can navigate the Noggin web site better than I can. My oldest daughter, Alayna, has Peter's Plus Syndrome that affects her eyesight, her development and her stature (she has slight short-limbed dwarfism), but she is doing better than most kids with her disorder. Each child of mine have reached developmental goals earlier and earlier; as of June 2008, Bella, my youngest and 2 months, is smiling and almost laughing as well as holding herself upright with minimal support, at least a month before the others. I'm planning on breeding my own super race of geniuses.

Ashamed of neglecting the network...

Hey guys. I am sooooo sorry for neglecting the updates I should be making to the network. I had some business stuff that took over my life and left it in shambles, so I am slowly getting back to projects I was managing before that. However, the Alumni Network is going to get a boost of purpose soon. I will be adding it to an awareness network I am starting and creating some good online events in which everyone can be involved. Stay tuned over the next month or so for some exciting new features o… Continue

Feature your music!!!

This is a call for music entries from our music performance artists in the Network. We have a music player on site and want to feature your music! I am still toying with this feature, so email me if you want your music available to the entire network. I would need a location to be able to download an MP3 or WMA file that can then be uploaded to our server. Don't worry: it's secure, so no one will be file-sharing it... unless we create a Facebook app that will spread it across the internet like w… Continue

A lull in new features for the Network

Hello, artists. Good Tuesday!

I know we're not seeing a lot of great features on the site yet. I have a humongous project that is paying me a lot of money, and my non-paying volunteer position as admin for the site is being left in the dust at the moment. But I plan on offering some new features once the dust settles, including a few art contests and other means of stirring the creative brain juice.

If any of you are willing to be admins, or know someone who is willing to volunteer their time,… Continue

Adding Flickr Feeds

I am having trouble getting a bigger quota for the number of photos any one user can have. But most people who like to post their artwork in multiple places have a Flickr account. If you don't, you're missing out. It's easy and it saves you from trying to upload the same photos to multiple social networks or portfolios. Then all you need is a widget or app to display a feed from Flickr.

Has anyone done this with MySpace or Facebook? You have apps there you can use, but the Alumni Network does n… Continue

Feasibility study will start July 21st

You will notice a questionaire added to the Network web site that is optional for all alumni both registered and visiting. The Network will be sending out the same questionaire to people already aware of the alumni association setup progress, including a version for VSAA staff and the PTSA. Please get involved with this study, which will run through the end of August to allow the reunion weekend for the 98/99 classes to gather some direct feedback. Remember that this questionaire is voluntaryContinue

I go in the Children's Museum Monday for my tour. If all goes well I should be doing a glaze workshop next month, every Saturday like 1:45 'till 4:15 [maybe for the next six months].

The H.P.Lovecraft Film festival is the first week on October at the Hollywood theater in Portland. I should have some artwork displayed on the movie screen at intermissions.

Any way when and were is this reunion? We will try to come.

Take care

What's up Joe? Sorry it take forever to get back to anyone. I have four shows (hopefully), a film festival, and trying to teach at the Portland Children's museum.
I didn't sell anything at the Lake O' show, but thats okay.
